He was back there again; feeling the pain and fear as strong as it had been when it happened. He woke up screaming. He heard voices and he felt hands holding him down. He struggled against them, fighting to free himself. He knew that any moment the wraith would begin to feed again. The voices tried to calm him, but nothing could take the fear away. He would always remember.

He remembered the fear he felt when the wraith slammed its hand into his chest. And he remembered the feeling of his life being drained away. He remembered everything; every terrifying moment of his torture. Trying to scream but no noise escaping because of the gag. The overwhelming pain and the knowledge that he was never going to be young again. Knowing that even the few seconds of feeding took away so many years of his life.

He felt the tears streaming down his face. The wraith had given him back his life, but it hadn’t taken away the memories.

He heard the voices telling him that everything was okay – that he was safe; but he wasn’t okay. He wondered if he ever would be.
